Important Things You Need to Know
About the San Luis Obispo Children's Museum

Provides a safe, welcoming, informal, educational environment for children and their parents, grandparents, friends and neighbors.

Offers a unique kind of "town square" setting where play inspires life-long learning.

Has a 15-year history of service and stability.

Negotiated a 42 year lease with the City of San Luis Obispo for the site at 1010 Nipomo Street for a dollar a year through Dec. 31, 2042, so the facility could be improved.

Is located downtown near the creek walk which makes it a good draw to local businesses and a convenient walk to restaurants and other attractions.

We are building an 8400 square foot museum that will enable our non-profit organization to:

1) Improve favorite exhibits, add new hands-on exhibits and provide space for traveling exhibits

2) Add new exhibits for an older population of children -- ages 10 to 13 years which is a group whose interests have not been previously addressed

3) Offer a larger toddler space to better accommodate this age group

4) Generate additional revenue sources from more school tours, private parties and a larger gift shop to help support operations.
